Information We Collect
Sanctions Sleuth lets users search sanctions lists. When you perform a search in the app or on the website, the search phrase you enter, such as a person name or organization name, may be transmitted to our backend service in order to return sanctions screening results.
The app or website may also store some settings locally on your device or browser, such as selected sanctions sources, disclaimer confirmation, offline mode preferences, and the last offline data refresh time.
Like most online services, the website and backend may receive technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, request time, and pages or endpoints accessed. This information may be processed for security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and service operation.
Sanctions Sleuth does not require you to create an account.
Advertising and Identifiers
Sanctions Sleuth may use Google advertising services, including Google AdMob in the mobile app and Google AdSense or related Google advertising technologies on the website, to show ads.
Google advertising services may collect or use device identifiers, browser identifiers, cookies, the Android Advertising ID, and similar technologies for purposes such as ad delivery, ad measurement, fraud prevention, security, and compliance.
The Advertising ID is not the same as our AdMob App ID or Ad Unit ID. The Advertising ID is a resettable identifier associated with a user's device and managed by Google/Android.

How We Use Information
We use information for the following purposes:

Data Retention and Deletion
Search queries may be processed by our backend service to provide results. We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for app or website functionality, security, troubleshooting, legal compliance, or other legitimate purposes.
Local app settings remain on your device unless you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Local website settings remain in your browser unless you clear your browser data.

Because Sanctions Sleuth does not require accounts, we may need information from you to identify any relevant server-side records.
Children
Sanctions Sleuth is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app or website, contact us at [email protected] and we will take appropriate action.

Sanctions Sleuth uses third-party services, including Google advertising services.
These services may collect information according to their own privacy policies and terms.
